westin step bar

i received my step bars in 2 days from amazon. the instruction sheet leaves a little to be desired, but over all with a little thought, was able to figure it out. i was able to install the bars in about 2 hrs. it could be a little work doing it by hand as you have to remove body mount bolts. i have an air compressor & impact wrenches, it made installation easy. the finished product is very nice & feels very strong.Westin 21-1955 Platinum Black Oval Step Bar

Look nice and fairly easy to install, but cause noise

I installed these the first time and regretted not going to the store and purchasing washers to place between the truck and the step bars. I drove the truck after installation and the bars caused noise when stopping, turning, etc. I called Westin and they said it is a "known issue" and I should install washers which naturally are NOT included with the bars. So I installed the washers and the helped significantly, but not completely.

Look nice
Easy to install

Cons:
Requires washers not included
Noise

Recommendation:
I would recommend to others if you are willing to tolerate some noise caused by the bars.

give your lady a step up - metal brackets must not touch frame

The metal brackets must not touch the frame or you will have a horrible groaning/creaking sound when you turn corners, hit a bump, etc.

etrailer has some wonderful installation video's on utube, walmart has a $25 two foot long torque wrench, and good luck. Blankets and an extra pair of hands help with installation.

Nice solid feel, no give, give your lady a step up.

Oh, get the chrome, my black ones always look dirty.
